Covid-19 Update

Dear Church, As COVID-19 regulations ease across our state, we wanted to give you an update from our church. We are looking forward to meeting together again in the flesh, but also want to make sure we meet state and federal set guidelines. I’ve outlined our way forward into 3 stages:

Stage 1 (current)

Government guidelines;

The latest government guidelines have now made it possible for:

- Places of worship to meet together with groups of up to 50 people.

- Groups inside of homes can meet with groups of up to 5 people.

- Both of these are contingent on a maximum of one person per 4 square meters.

Our church response:

- This week we have opened connect groups in public places (or on the church property if booked with the church office). We have not yet launched connect groups in homes. Zoom connect groups will continue meeting. Please contact your connect leader for information on what your connect is doing.

- Sunday services are not recommencing at this time due to gathering restrictions.

- Church online will still be occurring.

- Please note that our church office is now open through the week and is receiving cash offerings again, as well as donations/items for Hampers of Hope.

- Some mid-week ministries will resume; i.e. Creative Team Night and our monthly prayer gatherings. Youth will still be connect based. Speak to department leaders for details.

Stage 2

Government guidelines for stage 2 are yet to be finalised.

These may include:

- Groups of 100 people can meet together in places of worship.

- Groups of up to 20 people meeting in homes.

- Social spacing of one person per 4 square meters.

Our church response:

- The potential for Sunday gatherings on our church property in either the form of multiple Sunday services, outdoor gatherings, or use of overflow rooms.

- Connect groups can meet in homes.

- Social distancing measures may still apply.

- Church online may still be available.

- More mid-week ministries to open; e.g. Youth, Kids Outreaches, etc.

Stage 3

Government guidelines for stage 3 are yet to be finalised.

These may include:

- Groups of 500 people can gather at places of worship.

- Groups of 20 can meet in homes.

- It is possible that social distancing may be relaxed by this stage.

Our church response:

- Sunday church services resume as they were pre-COVID-19.

- Connect groups resume as they were pre-COVID-19.

- All midweek ministries to resume.

Some additional information

COVID-19 has changed the way society interacts, especially in social gatherings. As a church, we want to make sure we are on the forefront when it comes to keeping our local community safe.

To help with this we will be adopting the following:

- Increased training of staff and volunteers in hygiene practices.

- Regular disinfection of church facilities

- Increased training of staff and volunteers when it comes to safe social interactions. This includes greeting others in a healthy way, as well as gathering with social distancing measures in place.

- Increased access to disinfectant facilities including hand sanitiser stations at the entry of every building on our property. We ask that people use these whenever they enter our facilities.

Additional government requirements

The government has also asked that we keep a record of the names and contact details of all who gather for any of our events, for a period of 4 weeks. This includes church property based events and home connect gatherings. The reason for this is to ensure that if someone had COVID-19, and was at one of our gatherings, NSW Public Health can easily notify anyone who has been in contact with that case. We ask for your understanding regarding this. Please know that your information will be kept private and confidential. Please also note that this is not a guideline for our church alone, but will become the normal for all churches across NSW.

I hope this has been helpful and informative for you. Please contact our church office if you have any questions.

We pray God’s grace and favour over you and your family, in the mighty name of Jesus.

Love, Benaiah & Charlie Halliday
